Watchmakers Workbench

Something every novice craftsman should learn straight away: A clean & organized workspace is paramount to safe, quality work. …or something like that. Keep it clean and you’re less likely to get hurt, lose parts or damage your workpiece.

I’ve been working on watches lately; completely dismantling watches 50-70 years old, cleaning and reassembling them in working order. Last week, I broke a part in an odd accident. While photographing a metal piece that was a fraction of a millimeter ~ I lost it.

I didn’t know I had lost the part until I went to reassemble the watch… and found the part on my chair seat. It was permanently destroyed. So, I built a workbench for watch work.

First repair: my iPhone.
